Dressings and Wound Care

Advice on dressings and wound care after arthroscopic surgery of the ankle.

Dressings

Bandages with cutifilm and tubigrip - 2 days
Suture removal after 10 days.

Wound Care

You can expect to receive advice about this in hospital. It is vital that you keep the wound clean and dry and try not to move the affected area too much until the wound has scabbed over properly so as to avoid pulling the edges of the wound away from each other as they are trying to heal.

Swimming at this stage is not recommended due to risk of infection until the scab has come off and there is no longer any portal for infection from the outside world.
